AMD64 6800GT H2O
AMD 64 3500+ Socket 939 and an NVidia GeForce 6800GT – WaterCooled
A few years ago one of my PC’s was driving me crazy, so loud and so hot! “fudge to that” I thought and bought myself a nice water cooling kit from Asetek, it leaked to start with, so I tried to fix it, but the silicon sealant i used ate the plastic tops of the cooling blocks. Damn i thought, but as they leaked to start with asetek were kind enough to send me some replacement water block tops (now that’s service!!). Anyway, got it all in the PC but there wasn’t sufficient air flow through my PC’s case, so I decided to do this:
The MSI Neo2 Platinum motherboard looks like this
Note the Lotes Socket 939 HSF adaptor and location of the northbridge (under the gold fan) – it’s location prevents you from using the Asetek northbridge cooler.
Here’s the Gainward NVidia GeForce 6800GT with the copper GPU cooler and top section removed. Here you can see the 4 small holes around the GPU that have to be made bigger.
Here’s the system all built up, not that the case I use has a 12cm fan that pulls air in from the front of the case through the Asetek radiator and past the hard drives. This arrangement keeps your hard drives nice and cool. This case also did NOT have to be modified to fit the radiator in (unlike my old case). Note the neon lights and Zalman fan speed adjusters for the top and side fans.
